Army team holds rafting expedition

Jammu, September 15
A team of the artillery regiment of the 8 Mountain Division has completed a white water rafting expedition on the Zanskar in Ladakh region to celebrate the reunion and raising anniversary of the regiment.The Zanskar river originates from the high-altitude plateaus of Sarchu on the border with Himachal Pradesh and is known as the Tsarap as well.The river presents opportunities for rafting enthusiasts by providing challenging rapids which are famous the world over.
 
“The Zanskar white water rafting expedition commenced from Remala in Padam. The team of 20 rafters from the artillery regiment successfully completed the expedition in five days, covering 160 km,” said Col SD Goswami, defence spokesperson.The expedition contributed towards the spirit of adventure of participants and prepared them to face tougher challenges in an operational environment, he said. — TNS
